I think niceties like that are meaningless contributions to upholding the status quo. It's the safe way, the way the world expects us to be. Be nice, conform, let your niceness guide others into conformity as well.

I think it's silly. Censoring yourself for the sake of strangers, exerting yourself for the sake of strangers... It's a very elaborate system that I don't want a part in.
