I just get irritated when there's a lot of talk of no hope and endless doomsaying, and the needlessly brutal, overly pessimistic nihilism that goes with it. When it goes too far, it's almost like calling people who care enough to fight on stupid for even trying.
I get that people use gallows humor to cope. And not everyone has to be sunshine and rainbows all the time, and in fact, they shouldn't be. Sober realism is important. But sometimes it's not funny, it's just bleak. When it gets like that, it's not helpful, especially when so many people are working hard to avert the worst case scenario, you know?
