I know it is typical to receive chocolates or simple gifts for Valentine's Day, as it the custom, but did any others receive larger gifts from an unknown source?

They are likely a student as they were capable of entering the dorms and leaving the gift outside my room.

They also put a great deal of thought into the gift so I would believe it is someone I have already met.

If you prefer doing so you need not stop because I was unused to it. I am still learning. It is different when communicating in English than in Japanese when such differences do not exist.

I had considered it was someone with funds due to the cost of the gift, but yes, perhaps they prefer being unknown because they do not wish to bring attention to their wealth in that way.

It is how English emphasizes loud speech and yelling. I do not know why it became thus, but that is how it is interpreted in their writing conventions.

Japanese is much simpler in terms of how words are written.
