So I think we have punching pretty well taken care of, but does anyone have advice on how to buy a decent sword?

Asides from just like, go to the market and find one.

Well are you sure you want a sword? Do you have any weird powers? You said you were a mage right?
heromedal: (Science don't care.)

It's something to refine with each battle. For now, would you say you prefer fighting aggressively, defensively or in a balanced manner?

Shooting things is very easy. You point and click. Most gun training is about not killing things when you don't want to, because that's how easy it is.

[ Yeah? What's your point? ]
heromedal: (<.<)

I tend to think similarly. I'd rather there be no fight at all if possible. But if you must square up in close combat and want to end it quickly an axe is a good choice. Offensively dangerous, easy to use and disarm others. Intimidating.

That is correct, which is why most of gun training is about not doing that sort of thing. I knew a братва boy who blew his own kneecap off.

Oh, братва is the Russian mob.

[ If he does not work literally 24/7 everyone in the world will die and it'll be his fault. Is that what you want, Adelaide? ]

seeing as I'm already sharing notes with a fucking moron of astronomical heights, I can guarantee you won't be my worst
bejustorbedead: (A gentle smile)

[personal profile] bejustorbedead 2019-03-29 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't be.
heromedal: (You're cleaning it up.)

Not those specific ones but items of those types. Just ones made for killing things. Not very good defensively, but a tomahawk or two is an excellent way to increase enemy limb dispersal.

You are correct. It is the moral of most of my stories involving братва, though I never did meet Нет хуй Maksim.

[ Google translate Нет хуй, I'll wait. ]

But it's all very simple as long as you don't get cocky.

[ You don't know that for sure and neither does he, but why take the risk? ]

I appreciate this rare fucking consideration

I tend to develop towards covering as many bases as possible, so do let me know if you develop a preference.

I wouldn’t know. As I say I never met the man. He was just always mentioned when a young member carried their gun in the waistband of their pants.

On that we agree, but I suspect for different reasons.

[ All the magic and stuff has been normal to him. It’s the normal things that he’s always confused by. ]

Thats neat

[If a little underwhelming compared to what she's seen other mages do.]

I dunno man just go with what feels right. Find the coolest teacher at the school and ask if they offer a combat class

You can bargain with a daemon to get a cool magic sword.
eudaimonikos: (as you can)

NOT from art dealers

Especially ones you don't check out first

omg the stories I could tell
heromedal: (Uh what)

[personal profile] heromedal 2019-03-30 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Conversely, you could take the route I've chosen- rather than focusing on increasing your capabilities, seek to reduce your blind spots and become competent in numerous weapons rather than a master of many.

[ Rex really doesn't actually get that doing that sort of thing is really, really hard unless you're like him. He seriously undervalues his own competence. ]

It didn't work, if that was the reason. Everyone with a gun I've seen here needs to learn his story too.

What wouldn't be bad? The difference or the complication?
