My name was always Héctor, Wist. Technically, it's even longer than that. But my last name is a secret. It's longer than just "R". I wanted to make sure Teto and other small ones didn't find out. My real name would have given it all away. So, I had to call myself Señor R.

I'll be just a few minutes down the stairs. You're only one floor down!

[He'll likely be shouting their name down the hall the moment he gets there. He taps along on his cane, grinning wide.]

I'm... not sure you do get it... You don't need to put my name in quotations. Or wink. Héctor really is my name.

[Just pausing in his path to send that, put it back in his pocket, aaaand...]

[He waves down the hall.]

[They definitely don't get it, but they think they get it. Which is dangerous. He should probably make sure they get it.

From the doorway comes...an arm? An arm waving very excitedly.

And then Wist remembers that everything is fine now, tentatively tiptoes out of their room, cheers while jumping, and hurries over to tackle Héctor in a hug.]

Señor R! Héctor! Hello! You're here, just like you said!

[The moment Wist starts to race towards him he stops in the hall. He nearly topples with the sudden slamming hug but his own arms go around in turn, his cane still held in one hand. He laughs and hugs back.]

I am! It's good to see you! How have you been?

[panpiping]

[Wow!! No one ever says it's good to see them! This is great, friends are great.]

I've been asleep! And then I was bored, then curious, then hopeful! But then I got trapped! It was terrible. I screamed for a while!

That's... that's horrifying! But you're okay now, right?

Do you mean you were trapped in that room? How long were you in there?

Yeah! I'm all okay again.

[Mentally filing away this information, though, since they trust Héctor a heck of a lot more than they trust Kano. Screaming definitely more horrifying than fun, just like they thought.]

To be honest, I... I haven't checked. I think it's very end of May. I don't know. It's been really crazy here.

[It's always crazy here. He hasn't had a not crazy night in a long time.]

Okay! Then probably not as many days as it felt like! It was the end of May when I first got stuck, too!

Oh, good. I would've felt terrible if you'd just been trapped this whole time and no one noticed. If you ever get stuck anywhere, just send me a message, okay? I can only help you at night time but if you can wait that long I'll make sure to come find you.

Oh. I'm dead. Undead. You saw me when we were out in the woods. Once morning comes my energy just fizzles up until the night comes again. I can only really move around and talk and think and stuff in the night.

[It's less hyperbolic than it should be... Oh well. The idea of starving to death is sort of funny to them, and Héctor outright saying he's dead doesn't have the same impact as it usually does -- not just because it's been abundantly obvious to them, either. Sometimes dudes are just skeletons. This is more like "so what? and??" has been scribbled across their face in bright red marker.]

Hmm... That's the opposite of most people! I guess you're just like a corpse, then? [During the day? A really boring corpse?] I guess it would be hard to read if you can't think or move... Okay! I can wait for night!

[That's the nice thing with non-humans sometimes. None of it means anything. He doesn't have to soften the delivery in the slightest.]

Pretty much! Just make sure you don't tell people, okay? It's easier to keep jerks from finding out if I just don't tell anybody. Some people know, but it's still a bigger secret than the name secret.

[Their eyes, already wide and full of wonder, somehow go even wider.]

Come on, let's not stay in the hall. We can go to the common room, your room, wander the grounds a bit... whatever you like! Maybe actually get to know each other.

[He laughs.]

They bounce onto their toes at the suggestion.]

The grounds! I want to get to know you and see the grounds! Talking with your feet in the grass is the best, even if you haven't been stuck in a room for days and days!

[He kicks off his shoes, reaching to tie the laces together and swing them over his shoulder. He shoots them a grin and leads the way.]

Well, first, I can actually tell you my full name. It's Héctor Rivera. That's where the R came from. There was a time, after Teto but long before I came here when Imelda and I were together. Since we're not anymore I try not to tell people so they don't bother her, since her name is Imelda Rivera. And of course, I couldn't tell the kids.

Now, what made you decide to come here? After all you said, I'm a little surprised.

[panpiping]

[They don't quite skip, but there's definitely something more jovial than a walk going on, even as their eyebrows knit in confusion.]

Héctor...Rivera... Umm... Rivera was that adult that was sort of nice... So you're...not...Rumplestiltzkin?

[dreams: shattered. How could their BFF Héctor betray them like this?]

Hmm... You? You and that human taller than me invited me! I'd get to see you more, and... [And...sigh. Their hair deflates around them, limp and wispy.] I learned...I really don't understand humans as much as I thought! Or times have changed... It's strange. I want to learn more so I don't make so many mistakes again.

I am not, sad to say. That would be very cool to make gold with straw, but I think I like my own name better.

[It's kind of neat how emotive their hair gets. He does his best not to be distracted by it. Or tense to obviously at the mention of Rex.]

Times do change fast but it's probably just that humans are really complicated. Even to other humans sometimes. I'm glad you've come to learn.

And you'll get to meet the wierdest humans first, which is most helpful and probably the most fun.
