[After another snarl of frustration and hunger, the abomination snack seems to register and Poe unlatches to give a suspicious, slit-pupiled glare. Food? Yes, food. Okay. He snatches the food -- uses his hand this time, at least -- and plops back down onto the desk chair to lick and gnaw away at it without so much as wiping his mouth clean of the bloody smear.

Wist hums and examines their bleeding arm with a fair amount of fascination.]

Haha! It's still bleeding, but it doesn't hurt! That's weird... That's really rude, though, Poe! Even if it doesn't hurt!

[Okay, though, time to close their eyes aaaand...there! With a simple shift of shape, they don't have to worry about their gored open arm anymore. They're a lot smaller and less feminine, now -- about Kano's size -- but their hair is the same dark, fluffy mess, their eyes the same dark pink even if they're backed by light blue sclera, and when they lick their lips expectantly, they have a long, lizardy tongue in green.]

Me! Me!!

[suddenlybees]

You... You what??

[ The moment Wist shifts bodies, Kano drops their wrist and takes a step back, wiping the blood off on the sides of his pants before remembering he can do the exact same thing Wist does (sort of) and illusion that blood away to restore some semblance of cleanliness. ]

Are you still Wist? Wishywashy???

[panpiping]

[They give a crooning sort of growl, friendly and curious, before cocking their head to the side.]

Yeah! Why wouldn't I be? Are you still the rude boy? Anyway! It's my turn!

[food!!! childishly grabby hands]

Hm~ Sometimes!! But I can be a rude girl too, here, look~!!

[ He goes ahead and switches over to "Tsubomi," just because he can, and gives his skirt a twirl. ]

Ta-da~!! Your turn!!

[ For???? ]

Wow! That's cool! You're so shiny now!

[At least, they think so. Kano's always been shinier than the average human, with his ever-present illusion, but now that there are even more changes...! So shiny!!

And...ah...their turn? Distracted away from foodquest by Tsubomi's sudden appearance, they decide that this means they have to shift again. Form of...an even smaller, fluffier impish gremlin...thing! They're just shy of a foot, now.]

[ Haha, cute, if he didn't think that those teeth were still very very capable of tearing off his limbs. Guess he'll have to match Wist—- ]

[ as if Kano weren't already one's worst nightmare ]

[This time, their shriek is shrill and very much not a game as they scramble backwards so they can huddle on Poe's head and try to bury themself in the mess of hair. For hiding and for soaking up their giant ghibli tears.]

Aughh! I knew it! You're always so mean to me! Go away! Poe! Make him go away! Poe!!

[ This is terrible and I'm laughing while Kano is momentarily distressed, but since he's a cat, nobody can see that and he can be even meaner to Wist, transforming into Shuuya and pulling the saddest, most disappointed face he can muster as he turns slowly around. ]

...We didn't get to play a lot back then, so I was just hoping... But I can leave...

[panpiping]

[The good thing about their tears is that they blur things just enough to magnify the effect of the shiny, and it pulls Wist's focus again. They sniffle wetly.]

Nn...nuhh... N -- Y-you'll be nice? You'll be Sh-Shuuya?

[Hrmn, meanwhile Poe is not super psyched to be done with his odd meal and finally takes notice of the Very Large Rat Goblin on his head. He picks the furry little Wist up by the scruff and moves them in front so he can stare dully at them.]

You're being noisy. Hello, rude boy human known as Kano.

[ Hearing his given name still makes his stomach twist uncomfortably, but he manages a bright smile, a complete 180 as per the course. ]

Hi, Poe!

[ Glad to know he's still rude boy, even if Poe knows his name. ]

I dunno, should I be nice? If I am, does that mean I can stay? I was hoping we could all play together!!

[panpiping]

[Wist has folded in on themself, arms, legs, and tail all tucked in like they're really the distressed kitten they're being carried like, and another glob of...tears and snot drip down onto the floor with a splash.]

Yeah! Y-yeah, I w-want to play! But not if you go scary again!! Y-you scared me!

[suddenlybees]

Haha, am I scary~ Hey, hey, am I scarier as the rude boy, or the cute cat?

[ Wist looks more or less like a cute cat themselves? ]

Cat! Definitely cat! It -- iuhhh...isn't cute!

[Their baby changeling form is definitely catlike, with hard black horns in the place of pointed ears...not to mention the fact that Poe hangs out as a cat on the regular.]

You can stop crying now.

Hm~ Yep, You can stop crying now! No more rude cat, promise!!

[ His promises mean nothing, but having somebody cry isn't nearly as fun or useful as when he can do it any other time to terrorize Wist into doing something for him, so he'll play the part of a good Shuuya now and hops onto the desk to pat Wist on the head.

And just so he won't feel left out, he pats Poe on the head too. ]

[A few more wet sniffles more, they calm down enough that Poe places them on the desk next to Kano. He doesn't seem to mind being pat, and even tips his head into the action a little before slouching back in the chair. Wist fusses with their tail, then goes to crawl into Kano's lap.]

...You're gonna play with us? Do I get more food while we play?

[suddenlybees]

[ Cute, but also terrifying. This must be what it's like to own a small animal that holds you hostage by sitting in your lap. ]

Yep, that's right! If we play together, you'll get food!! But as for what to play... Are you very strong, Wist? Poe, will you play too?

[This is exactly what it's like.]

I can be strong! I'm stronger when I'm bigger, but I'm pretty strong now.

Hm... It seems that despite the interruption, the raid finished alright. I didn't receive as many commendations as I should have... [how dare his guild tbh] ...but I suppose I'm now free to supervise, at the very least.

[suddenlybees]

[ Supervise... Babysit, he means, but having an extra set of eyes will be good, anyways, Kano going ahead and growing up again so he can wander the halls without anybody looking at him weird. As if they wouldn't, the way he goes directly to the door and waves them over. ]

Alright, alright, this is how we play~ I need help carrying this door! And when I remove all the other doors, I'll need help carrying those too!! Doesn't that sound fun???

[panpiping]

[Boo... Shuuya is better and has more glimmer about him, but...well, maybe Kano is the same and is stronger when he's bigger. Wist hops down from the desk, shakes like a dog dispelling water, then shifts back to their usual form. The arm is still healed!]

Umm... Nope? But I can help you anyway!

[Poe sighs and gets to his feet with a sleepy scrub at his blood- and peanut butter-covered mouth. Borrowing Wist's form will be better if the other two end up needing his help, so...raggedy and lanky it is. The two hover nearby, Wist bouncing gently and glancing between the doorway and Kano.]

[suddenlybees]

[ Kano stares back at the two of them, hands on the edge of the door and standing there waiting. He is not any stronger when he's bigger; if anything, Shuuya would have dragged this door out the hall himself, inch by painstakingly slow inch, without even the thought of asking anybody for help. Unlike Kano, who doesn't even make an effort to lift the door off the floor. ]

Okay... The game starts now!! When I say "help," I sorta meant help lifting this door out of the building! When we get it outside into the forest, everybody gets a hotel mint!!

[panpiping]

Yeah! Okay!

[They...still don’t move... Poe sighs.]

Wist, I believe requesting help outside the room counts as an invitation, under these immediate circumstances, especially when coupled with the gesture.

What? Really? Really, really?! [They whirl around in disbelief...then tentatively go to step outside.] Woah!! Wow! You’re right!

[Delighted by this development, they skip over to the door and lift it, placing the flat of the door on top of their head.]

[ Oh... Okay. Kano lets Wist take the entire door, digging into his pockets to find the promised mint and toss it up and down in his hand. Onward and outwards... ]

Just outside, over by the trees will be good~ Do I have to be more specific about invitations? Do you not often get invited to things to know?? How sad!!! I get it, I get it, I'll be more clear~

[hnnngh this really would be easier if they weren't working on an empty stomach, but at least the rude boy has promised food! He always smells vaguely like food particles, so they believe in him.]

Ah... Okay, okay. I can do that! [They don't sound super psyched about it.] Heh... Yeah, you get it! No one ever invites me at all! It's really hard to get places... Everyone puts so many doors everywhere!

[ Wist had some peanut butter, they'll be fine, maybe. ]

Okay~!! [ Kano goes ahead and leads the way— the least he can do is open the doors for Wist, going down the stairs because elevators are fake and don't exist. ]

So you're sorta like a vampire! Nobody invites me places either and I also hate doors, so I get that~ Locks are a pain and shouldn't exist!

[Not enough peanut butter... Poe got way more, but he's not even doing any work at all!]

Hm? No, I'm not a vampire, I'm one of the faefolk. [...they weirdly know very little about vampires. They're most concerned about how much of a pain these stairs look like they'll be, though...

With a loud sigh, Wist sets the door down against the railing and leans against it.]

Do I have to carry it to lift it, or can I just lift it?
