Hey anyone know anything about guns? Like, safety, handling, shooting them?

Not- shooting anyone at the school. I just- I don't have magic so I figured it might be good next time something crazy happens.

*She'll just- sigh as she considers the words she just said.*

Which could be tomorrow given the way the school usually goes. Hey, are there magic guns, like, ones that do spells instead of just firing bullets? But I guess that's getting ahead of myself. I don't really know if I can feel comfortable handling a gun...

*She has doubts about Toki with a gun. But they were suppose to fight the end of the world, and that was already dangerous enough. Plus, a teacher seemed to sign off on this. She'll turn down the volume on her phone for a bit.*

Maybe! It'll be another thing to practice, and doing that on my own wouldn't be as much fun. Has it been pretty easy to learn?

Anyway! So, like, I did go to the forge and gave them some designs because if I'm going to have a gun, it's has to be like really awesome and so what do you think of this!?

Don't worry, there are magic guns and they're fairly easy to acquire and handle if you know the basics of shooting. You can make them with runes. My rifle uses an energy blaster rather than bullets, for example. Made it myself.

You don't know anything about weapons, how'd you design one?

Firing real bullets doesn't bother me. I don't think. The only time I've ever handled a gun it had one of those flags that say bang on it.

So... I should be sure I can do that much before I get some custom magic gun.

Okay, well, I thought why only shoot one bullet at a time, but I didn't want like a shotgun, so like add more barrels, right? And then why do you need chambers that fit one bullet when you can just put them all in from the front and have like four in one barrel and then it's like twenty-four at the same time and you have to hit something and then I thought that I could dodge bullets and maybe they're too slow for some daemons or whatever, so adding more pressure means higher velocity, but if it gets in the red it will probably explode and you should just drop it and run! Anyway, it's a work in progress~!

Makes perfect sense. Though a rune gun of some kind is really something to consider sooner rather than later, given there's a lot of Outlanders that have build up an immunity to regular bullets.

I didn't know we had regular bullets here, cause we don't have regular anything here.

*She figured the bullets would like, turn into popcorn or something. She doesn't get magic, she just knows that everyone uses magic for nonsensical things!*

I'll think about it after I figure out if I'm any good with a gun. And how my powers work with them. I kinda complicate things.

I'm probably going to go for something more precise, dodging bullets doesn't matter if they never hear it coming, right?

That's a good point. You could probably go with any number of gun choices... what about a rocket launcher?

I could fire it quietly but it'd still blow up, and probably too far for me to stretch my powers to keep it quiet. And those things are probably really heavy, but...

I could definitely carry a bigger gun without worrying too much about the noise it makes.

Maybe a machine gun. Or you could go all subtle and have one of the tiny ones that spring out of your sleeve.

Maybe, I could do either of those. A machine gun would be a lot to carry around.

I'll want it to be compact, just easier to carry with my stealth suit.

If you wish, I could teach you, some physical combat techniques?

Specifically, ones which are useful against larger, or stronger opponents- so that even if you are to face a non-human beast, you will be able to defend yourself!

Sure do. I've learned to use several different families of firearms since I joined up with QUILL. ...I don't know how to operate and maintain every single gun under the sun, but most common stuff? Not a problem.

Conventional or unorthodox, either way, I can probably teach you a thing or two. Probably can't build you one without approval from the faculty though. Heard a couple of people got in trouble for that.

Ah, right, you'll hear the shot in more than one way, especially with a rune gun.

Are there any like... supernatural earmuffs, in case it gets in the way?

I rely a bit too much on my hearing to just- turn it off. This is why I don't use any sort of oricalcum to contain my Flame. Especially if I'm trying to fight monsters.

*Being aware of the area around her without looking is one of her greatest assets, turning that off would be foolish.*

If I can turn off the magic completely, or keep it contained some other way. Like- magic bullets instead of a magic gun? It'd be better.

I know a guy who would be insulted if I asked someone other than him to build me a gun anyway.

But I figured I'd ask for more people if anyone less busy would help me learn how to shoot and not hurt myself.

I'm thinking... something in a large handgun, just to start. Until I figure out what I'm really okay with? Those are easier than anything else right?

I'm trying to stay out of fistfights? If I can manage. I've been learning how to fight with a weighted baton but it's a slow process.

But... it wouldn't hurt to learn how to handle anyone bigger than me. Which is most people.

If it helps, it is less 'fist' fighting, and more, 'plam fighting'; it is the art of using an opponent's force, against them!

[It's Aikido.] A weighted baton sounds like a useful weapon, as well- it is simple, but effective..!

Often times, yeah. If you've never fired a gun before, I'd stay away from the larger caliber handguns at first. Until you know what you're getting into. Firing a .44 Magnum is going to have way more kick than a lot of people expect. And don't even think of picking up a Desert Eagle like they love in movies and video games. That thing can dislocate your arm if you're not properly handling it.

I'd recommend your first time shooting be something with less recoil and power. .22 or a 9mm cartridge would be a good first one to try, and then moving to a heavier handgun caliber once you get at least a bit of a feel for it. It shouldn't take long, though.

With runes, you'd have to put a lot of effort into tiny inscriptions, so something like an enchantment might work better. I know less about that though.

Who knows, it might turn out to be as easy as figuring out the right materials to make the bullets out of. Alchemy is a thing.

Wanted to start easy and not cut myself with a knife. Swinging a weighted baton is also very theraputic.
