I've got really sensitive hearing which causes some music to just really grate on my ears. Synth stuff doesn't really cause that, though. So it works for me. It's relaxing.

Are there specific instruments that make it hard to listen to?
Or if it's too high-pitched?
Certain frequencies?

Just loud discordant stuff. Even then it's not everything, just certain songs and most of them happen to have loud screechy guitars in them. So I stay away from heavy metal.

Also I just like the synth sound. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
