I know it is typical to receive chocolates or simple gifts for Valentine's Day, as it the custom, but did any others receive larger gifts from an unknown source?

I do not see how that would be possible. I have only been at the school for six weeks.

Humans fall in love in whatever time span makes sense for the person, I would assume, but I doubt I have been here long enough to engender such a response.

[Why would you say such a thing? He has not made enough friends for this. He cannot think of anyone he has met who could be sway in such a way and not be completely obvious about it.]

Yes, but I am not all humans. I do not speak for everyone. We are all different. As I have never experienced that feeling, I will not speak as if I have.

I do not believe the person who gave the gift is nefarious in nature. I am merely confused and would like to thank them for their kindness. I was hoping others might have more information for me to proceed with to finding the individual.

Have you considered a reverse tracking spell? You could probably use that to hunt them down.

Not as of yet. I am still young and things will happen as they may.

My tracking spells work when the object has been more firmly handled and has traces of the person's essence left on it. The gift I received had more of the essence of the creator, not the buyer.
