*Look who is home, it's Claire! She's walking across campus with her phone framing her face, more or less. She's got a few fresh bruises and a healing busted lip. Anyone who has been here for the past few years know this is just how Claire always looks when she comes back to campus.*

Okay, I'm back and not dead, big shock for everyone I'm sure.

Any new faces I should know about on Aube Floor 4 before I threaten one of my new charges with a knife when I get there? It's been a rough trip and I'm cranky.

*The R.A. for Aube Floor 4 everyone! I swear she's really nice when you get to know- no, no she's a prickly goddamn cactus at the best of times but she won't stab you. Maybe. She probably won't stab you.*

...There's a couple of newbies. I got a roommate finally and some guys moved in down the hall.

Alright, I'll probably have a floor meeting in a few days once I've unpacked, gotten my schedule together, don't look like I went four rounds with a heavyweight squid...

Anything I should worry about with the new faces. The guys well behaved or will I need to teach them some manners.

Not expecting you to be a spy, just pay attention.

If any of them are trouble, it's better to know than just ignore it.

I was wondering, considering we're almost two months into the term, here.

When something finally kills me I'll send a postcard telling you not to touch my stuff. I kept being the closest hunter to stuff happening, it made driving cross country take longer.

...and my car died for like a week.

I miss any fun other than the big stupid beginning of term speech I sleep through?

Here specifically? Giant ghost-monster corrupting the spirits of the dead and an army of demons attacked the Valentine's dance. Plus the usual missions.

Giant ghost monsters. Proper ghost or something you can stab enough to kill it?

I did some pretty heavy damage to one of the corrupted spirits.

Although if another one shows up? Don't try to go stabbing it by yourself. The one I fought was bigger than my Rune Armor.

Not very used to it at all. I'm trying to catch up, but it hasn't been that long.

Okay, so I'm going to politely suggest not playing with freaky powers or spells in the dorms until you're a little more ready for all this.

Occupational hazard. You get used to just being ready for a fight when you're a Hunter.

And I like to know what's going on.

Pulling knives on students seems like a drastic first step here, with all due respect.

Which is why I want to know who is a student so I only pull a knife on them if they're being a dumbass.

Plus if you can't handle a little knife being pulled on you, you should go back to wherever you came from.

It's more about appropriate conduct of authority figures.

Yeah. I was brought up by a rune guard officer. And I'm not of the opinion that acting impulsively violent is going to help us any come Nightfall, sorry.

I'm more worried about them being on guard for the next regular old, run of the mill, monster encounter.

As much as the Nightfall is a big spooky end-of-the-world. I'm worried about the next few weeks, few months. And it isn't clean, it isn't nice. I'm also in charge of the floor so if you've got an issue with it, you can either suck it up or try to pick a fight with me.

I wouldn't try it.

I keep one by my bed, took it from the angel who killed my mom.

I try to keep in practice but swords are a bit obvious if you're trying to look like you're not a Hunter.

How'd you kill the angel though?

Oh, that? He was distracted trying to kill another Hunter that was there.

So I stabbed him with his own sword. Angel Blades are really good at killing things that normally don't die.

[His eyes narrow a little when she mentions hunters. It isn't exactly hostile, but his guard up subtly as he speaks.]

So Angels make amateur mistakes, huh. That sword sounds handy to have around.

*It was outnumbered four to one, and ignored the one person in the room that didn't have a reputation killing angels and monsters, but sure, it was a rookie mistake.*

Unless you have something you know can kill an angel, don't fuck with them. Some of them can't be killed, most of them can only be killed with really specific weapons. That's why they get to be that reckless.

Hey, it's not like I'm dying to pick a fight with an angel.

What's up with them anyway? Aren't angels supposed to be good or whatever.

Monsters are monsters, some just have better P.R.

Angels mostly work against demons, but they have very little problem using or murdering people to win that war. Not all of them, but a lot of them.

Basically angels are dicks.

[That gets a huffed laugh.]

Figures. They're supposed to be working for god, right? That guy seemed pretty much like an asshole in the stories, too.

Never met him, but I'd probably try to kill him if I did.
