I'm going to take commissions for suits and dresses! I know we have a lot of people on campus who have unconventional body shapes, and that probably makes shopping in town pretty tough. But I think I can manage to sew something nice for anyone who needs it! Mostly I just need the money to cover materials, so it shouldn't be too expensive unless you want really expensive fabric. The extra pocket money wouldn't hurt, of course, ha ha! Swaps are okay too if you can make something you think I'd need. Let me know! I'll need at least a week or two of advanced notice so I have plenty of time to work on projects between classes and assignments. If there really is going to be a ball, then I hope to see everyone there!

I don't know if it's going to be this ball or one further ahead in the future, but I saw daemons showing up and attacking students here with weapons and flame breath. It was in the ballroom and everyone was dressed up.

Then I definitely need to be there. I'll make sure to warn Peter, since we agreed to be each other's back-up dates. Do the teachers know?

I'm going just in case it is the Valentines' Ball. It came up in the monthly Cassandra upload and I gave my notes, too. I don't know if they've told all the staff yet, but they have time to tell them and plan.

[And then something occurs to her.]

I guess I should ask someone to be my date.

Wow, you're brave! I'd be too nervous to ask somebody out. Do you have a dress yet? I can make one for you!

I don't know who I'm going to ask yet, but whoever it is has to be good at fighting.

[There isn't anyone she currently has a crush on right now, so really, she's just looking for someone who will be on the front lines with her when it's time to throw down.]

I know a couple of nice guys you could ask. I'd be happy to introduce you! You met Tokidoki, but I don't think he's a fighter. Gunvolt can shoot lightning, and he's very warm and friendly. Lie Ren can emanate a kind of calming energy that might be really useful if he can use it on monsters. I'm not sure if he can fight, but he did have muscles, and he could climb on a roof, so probably. Yuya has a dragon. He's a year younger, though, so I don't know if that's a dealbreaker. Date is kind of shy, but he's a mage that's known about the Outworld for a long time, so he's got lots of combat training. There's also a different Ren who has phantom thief powers, those were cool! And there's Souji too. I know I used to have a crush on him as a kid, but it wouldn't be weird if you wanted to go with him. I wouldn't get jealous! Peter can fight too, he's really fast and nimble. I told him about the demons and he's really determined to go and protect people now. Do any of those work?

[Wow, that's quite a list. Trust in Orihime to know plenty of people.]

I'll talk to them and see who I want to go with. I'd rather go with someone who's not going to try to get me to dance a lot. I'm only going because I want to stop the daemons.

I'm glad. They won't stand a chance with so many of us there ready to fight back!

[And maybe Tatsumaki will find someone she loves too. That would be amazing!]

Is there anything you need me to do?

Help the faculty secure a place to protect all the non-combatants and any injured. We need to try to contain the daemons within the ballroom and make sure people who can't fight are kept away.

[While she knows Orihime would want to protect people, aside from being protective of her friend, there is the very glaring problem of Orihime not being out about all of her abilities. So she's suggesting other ways Orihime can help, conscious of the possibility that the network can be monitored.]

Help me figure out how to sneak in those big jugs of water for water coolers and blankets for putting out flames without it looking junky with the decorations, too.

I wish they'd make an announcement about it. A lot of people are going to be disappointed if monsters ruin their romantic dates. I'll ask if we can get some fireproof blankets in stock when I go to the infirmary tomorrow for more tutoring. And water should be easy to stock up on, people are going to be thirsty at a dance. For extra incentive, we can say that we overheard some students saying they might try to spike the punch, so we'd need lots and lots of clean drinking water!

Give them time. They have to try and compile what all of the Seers saw using CASSANDRA. I'll bug them about it if they don't make an announcement by early February.

[Not like Tatsumaki has any authority over them, but there are at least people she knows personally and who she can generally get to set aside a few minutes to talk if it pertains to Seer things.]

Or maybe we can just bring it to the faculty and get them to deal with it. I just want the fireproof blankets and water around so that I have something to keep the fire from spreading.

[Oh! That makes sense. It probably takes a lot of time to interpret so many visions, so she's comforted by the explanation.]

I'll make sure you have what you need. And I'll make sure I have a weapon that won't burn easily!

Todoroki's ice should help a lot, but it doesn't hurt to have extra supplies. Bring a crowbar. You can hit daemons who try to go for the evacuating students and if a door gets stuck, you have something to pry it open with.

[Tatsumaki, no. Don't encourage your best friend to bring a crowbar to a ball.]

That's a good idea! I'll make a secret holster for one of those too. I'm going to get an aluminum bat with a rubber grip, so even if the fire heats the metal, my hands won't get burned. Do we need to buy boutonnieres for our dates?

I don't know. Maybe? I don't think Todoroki or Peter will care that much about something like that.

[But she knows Orihime might, since she's more of a romantic.]

I guess it couldn't hurt for pictures. We might as well get a couple of good ones before the fighting starts to send to family.

[They would help with keeping up the appearance of a normal, if rather affluent school.]

That's a good point! My aunt might like a picture. And I could show it to onii-chan too! I don't know if it'll be Peter or not, though. He's really nice and gets along with everybody, so someone might ask him. We're just back-ups, it's nothing special.

Pick someone you'd feel comfortable fighting beside and could talk to before the fighting starts. Peter or Souji, maybe.

Maybe! If they ask, I guess. I don't mind going on my own, really, it might be easier.

[She's not as brave as Tatsumaki, she can't just ask something like that. Even offering to be a back-up was kind of overwhelming, but it was doable because it felt like she was helping.]

I'm just going to tell whoever I ask that they should go with me. You're a much nicer person than I am. You'd have lots of guys who'd want to go with you, and if they don't, they're idiots anyway.

That's very reassuring! So far everyone's been pretty nice, though, so I think I'll be okay. Is it all right if I still hope there's at least a tiny spark of romantic interest? Because I really want to be a maid of honor!

No one asks for romance! It kicks down the door and eats your snacks! Anyway, just keep an open mind. It might happen, and I don't want you to miss it!
