[There's more about that that doesn't quite sit with him, which isn't even about the music specifically. He can't combat that. But the absolutism...]
what if someone on your floor had a problem with lycanthropes? would you ban them too? a lycan that's a snake?

And to answer your other question... If a student had a problem with lycanthropes, and a lycan was also living on my floor; then I would request that one of the two be moved. It wouldn't be fair to put either student in a situation like that if it can be easily avoided.

this place is full of a lot of different people, and we're all weird to each other (or just weird (⌒_⌒;)) so we have to learn to live with each other. maybe some reasons are more serious than others, but if we're here then we can't just find ways to control each other for our own comfort. everyone has to compromise!
also i don't think other people's rooms count as your living space? Σ(°ロ°)

Would you rather have one student or the other avoiding coming home to their own bed for fear of running into the other in the hall or the common room? Not everyone responds well to being thrown in with their discomforts and told to simply deal with it. Things are often much more complicated than that.

are you afraid of running into music?

Also, isn't that a personal thing to ask someone?

you have to have really strong feelings about it if you want to keep it off a whole floor, right? ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌ I don't think a normal noise rule extends to other people's privacy, like rooms

The rules are the rules. If you don't like them, just don't come upstairs.

I have no intention of changing my mind. No is no. Period.

If you can't follow the rules, then at the very least, don't make a ruckus. If you want to put your grades in jeopardy by indulging in music, those will be your consequences to face when midterms come.

ty for unofficial permission

And calling it permission doesn't make it so. I'm only pointing out that you were going to do it anyway.
