Lessons, but not the kind in a class

Hola, everyone. I'm Héctor. Any of you with night classes are likely already familiar with me. I'd been debating on this for a while and slowly taking on a few people who've asked, so I think it's about time I came forward and simply offered it myself.

I'm opening up guitar lessons, available to all skill levels. Solo lessons and group lessons depending on how many people are interested in the latter. You're free to pay what you like but it's not necessary. Just bring your own instrument and let me know you're coming along. I'll be meeting in the evenings, Fridays, by the cross of life on the school grounds. Thought it might be a nice place to play with the warmer weather coming.

Please just keep in mind I have poor health and some cancellations may be short notice. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. ¡Buenas Noches!

[This announcement may come suspiciously close on the heels of a quiet rule change on a certain floor in Lumiere, but surely that is just a coincidence. What rule change? Guess it's a mystery...]

I absolutely agree. And the more variety you get in there, the more kinds of songs you can play.

I had a very, very brief stint with trying violin. A lot of fun, but la Guitarra, she calls to me.

Thank you - I'm a fan of the classics.

And yes, some instruments do call out - I've been sat in front of a piano as a child, and while I could play a few notes - it didn't feel right in the way a good violin does.

While my repertoire is classical, I've been expanding on it.

I'm partial to the oldies. Really oldies. Like 1890 to about 1940 range has the best sound for me. But the classics are classic for a reason.

Not so many classical guitar pieces as other instruments but if you're expanding and looking to try other things as say, it's been a long time since I played with any violinist. Maybe we could try a duet piece sometime.

I would be glad to perform with another musician. I've been giving other genres a stab and want to keep going at it. Jazz is an especially interesting one, being allowed to improvise mid-performance is rather freeing

Jazz! I'd love to try some jazz! Lively energy, all kinds of instruments. Oh, wish I could've seen it all in person sometimes. I have to agree with the improvisation too, always tried to leave room for it back when I wrote music. So I'll look at what I've got, you see what you have, and we can convene on something jazz with both a violin and guitar?

Yes, Violins don't get much use in Jazz - to 'concert hall' for their taste I suppose, but I can look through what I have.

It's been far too long since I played with someone else.

There are few other musicians here if you want variety. Met a drummer though I haven't seen her around-- there's probably at least one other here. And cello seems popular.
