Let's have a little chat, somewhere that's a little safer for you to say what you want to. Since I know some of you are never going to remotely do anything face-to-face, I've come to terms with that. I can't blame anyone for not wanting to, either.

With the nature of this place, it's understandable that there's some underlying fear of what's to come of the future. Whether it's going to happen before you're ready, that you might lose someone or something important to you due to it.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, we can't really know the future. We can get bits and pieces of it, we can speculate based on that evidence, but we can't know everything that's going to happen. There's always some form of loss when it comes to a fight on the scale that will eventually be here, and I'll say that even in the darkest of times there's always a shred of light.

I can say that from experience. While this would be on a much larger scale than my own, wars of all sorts have been fought on this planet, whether or not you're aware of them. The shinobi mages were no different from the rest of the world, if I remember correctly, we'd been through three major wars between our different villages, or clans. Many of us lost those close to us, many lost their own lives, for what was perceived as the greater good.

God, I'm rambling. My point is that of the things to be worrying about, don't let it be the inevitable, it will only hold you back and put you in a rut. Perhaps when the time comes, you'll grow even stronger through your struggles.

[Probably not the best sign that she's cringing at the sudden light and just resting her cheek against the table in front of her. Her hair's loose and looks like she hasn't really slept or, if she did, rolled around while she was sleeping.]

Also, you were rambling on the message board about how we're all going to suffer during Nightfall but come out stronger for it, which is hopefully true but also not really the kind of talk the students need to be hearing right now, I think.

Well, she's going to rub at her face with a small sigh and just shift to put her forehead on the desk properly now instead.]

Might have been on the way to drunk if I did that, I sure as shit don't remember doing it. Let me guess, compared it to something else entirely, too?

Shinobi mage wars. I'm not sure what those are but apparently there's been three of them?

[Lin is trying to discretely look around for someone else in the apartment. She's not TERRIBLY interested in Tsunade's private affairs but she'd feel more comfortable if she could confirm that she hadn't just been drinking alone with her pet pig last night even if that meant an awkward moment of meeting her one night stand.]

[Good luck with that, Lin, because that's exactly what happened. Drinking with her pet pig and no one else. Which isn't uncommon in the slightest at this point.]

Oh. Those.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. Three shinobi mage wars between all of the villages. Needless to say they all had high death counts and other shit like that. Not the best times.

Yeah, war can be pretty messed up.

[Hmm there seems not to be any hot strangers lying around here, though it's late enough they might have already left.

Lin didn't think that was very likely, honestly speaking.]

So were you at a party last night or...?

I've been there. [What does that even mean exactly, Tsunade?

But Lin would be correct in her assumption in that not being likely, which might be exactly why she's silent for a good long minute or two at the question. How does she word this to be less pathetic than what it actually is?

Maybe the sound of bottles being knocked over doesn't help. Tonton is just snuffling around in what is very clearly a good number of sake bottles, jeeze.]

[Unfortunately it does.]

Tsunade are you alright?

[Lin leaned a little closer, and from the look of her it wasn't a casual question. She expected an actual answer, not just a casual "yeah I'm fine".]

[Even with how she is right now, she knows what she's doing right now and is just watching her carefully.]

One mistake out of a number of times, it's just a fluke. I'm fine. [Nope. Nice try, though.]

[Lin might be a bit gullible sometimes, but even this rings false to her.

But...maybe she's wrong. Maybe it WAS a fluke and Tsunade was just in a bad mood. She didn't REALLY know her that well yet, after all. Lin searched her face for answers for another few seconds before relenting.]

I'm glad to hear it.

[Dammit, Lin. Tsunade's at least seeming to calm down a little again and just put her face fully against the table with a pitiful bit of a groan.

And Tonton is just staring at the situation and trying to make a loud noise to get Lin's attention as she's rooting through the bottles still. Times where this poor little pig wishes she could talk, oops.]

[Lin's eyes followed the noise and saw the impressive collection of empty liquor bottles. "Just a fluke" her ass, but she'd give Tsunade a chance.]

...If you need a drinking buddy, why don't you call me next time? I know drinking alone always just makes me feel sad.

[Why do people keep offering to drink with her? What was the problem with drinking alone?

She's sighing softly and shifting around again to finally look up at her.]

It's better if you don't, honestly. [What does that even mean?]

Oh c'mon. It'll be fun! We can ogle hot guys and tell inappropriate jokes!

Or girls! I don't know how you roll!

[Congrats, Lin. That is the most confused stare in human history. And not because she's hungover for once.]

I'd rather not. In either case. [S t o p.]

Maybe not that, then, but SOMETHING fun.

[Getting up. She's said her piece, she'll leave Tsunade to brood in silence, if that's what she wants so bad, but she's got her eye on your now. Nothing can get by Lin's eye except basic level trickery.]

Rather not. Just fine like this.

[Good luck, Lin, this is going to be one of the more difficult nuts to crack.]

I just... need to take a bit of a rest and I'll be fine. [Liar. But she'll try at the very least.]

[Off she goes! She waves from the doorway.]
