Well, for starters it's not actually that simple? He's a friggin lich, which means he's basically unkillable unless his phylactery is destroyed.Also we're working with another group and that requires skills that don't involve beating people up.

Like teamwork! And diplomacy! Something like this means working with people you might not actually like! I don't really know anything about your ability to do or not do that, so I don't know if that's the reason you weren't allowed to go, though.
