im sure i can talk them out of it! everybody is fine now. its not a big deal.

Grimm just...breathes loudly. And puts his head on the table. It seems this child truly has a way of dropping information on him that takes the Troupe Master off balance.]

I...see. When you first met, was everything okay...?

[The Nightmare King could be a bit...temperamental.]

[She watches Grimm's reaction...a little bit amused. But why didn't the Nightmare King say anything??]

I met him back when I was having weird dream stuff...

[....Which she hadn't shared with anybody yet either. And it was definitely not what happened with the Sandman.]

And now he talks and plays with me sometimes at night!

[Because he rarely tells Grimm these things because he found it funny.]

That...[Is actually not a surprise. Some of the Nightmare King's vessels had been young.] Explains where he goes.

[He's been vanishing as of late. Not that it is a bad thing - he needs to get out more.]

He's not that bad once you get to know him...

Indeed. There is a kindness within that torrent of flame that I enjoy.

[Grimm was aware that the Nightmare King could easily burn him out. Make Alderic nothing more then a shell to be possessed until the next one came along.

But it wouldn't be. Ekkehardt had seen the memory of when they first met face-to-face properly, that desire of not wanting to be alone. They are one in the same, yet not.

[Grimm taps a finger against his chest, over his heart.]

[So that's where he is, huh. The Heart. Or whatever. Maybe all that stuff was finally starting to make sense?]

[Grimm chuckles. He can hear someone perk up, flames swirling in his mind.]

He says hello.

[He's there!!! Puella laughs, happy and excited that the Nightmare King could actually hear her.]

It's nice that I can sorta talk to him out here too.

[Even if it wasn't quite the greatest. Better to just use dreams.]

He is capable of using my senses when needed. So he will be able to hear and see you.

[The Nightmare King just cannot speak unless Grimm passes on what he wishes to say.]

But I must request you to not bring him up to everyone. There are...reasons he must remain a secret.

[That is kind of lame. Ash was pretty cool! ...When he's not being scary or creepy.]

...Does he not talk to anyone else?

No. Aside from yourself, he did not speak to anyone aside from myself and my predecessors.

[It was his choice to do so...but he had not been physically capable. The Nightmare King may have been able to burn out Grimm's soul to take his body but in turn Grimm could cut off all his senses by doing to same to his own, effectively rendering the God mute, blind and deaf.

It was not an ideal life and neither of them knew why he made that choice.]

...But I'm not either of those. [So. ???]

He did sorta help me figure out my dream though. So I'm grateful for that.

Perhaps Ash saw something interesting within you and your dreams. He is old but seeks the same sort of things that I do.

[The uniqueness of others. The Nightmare King does not speak up as often as Grimm does but he is there all the same.]

He says you are welcome. It was an interesting dream.

He likes them that much? [That's pretty damn cool! ...She never really had people rate her dreams before. Kind of assumed everyone would dream the same sort of things with that kind of freedom.]

[Then again...]

...Maybe they are kind of special. 'Cause a lot of the other dreams I got to see were...

[Grimm's, Ekkehardt's, Avery's...]

He is a God of Nightmares. Ash remembers all he sees in others' dreams but...hmm, perhaps it may be best for him to explain it when you meet again.

[His words are broken but in turn Grimm could not explain that empty loneliness the Nightmare King felt. For a dream to move him, be registered as something he liked and not one of the countless grans of sand that fall in the hourglass...it does mean something.

But Grimm's expression turns concerned when she mentions that the other dreams she saw were scary.]

Do you wish to speak of what you saw? I do want to talk about your parents as well, but...

[That in of itself is kind of amazing. Considering she had always thought everyone was supposed to remember less the older they got. It was one of those things.]

[...And she was tentative to answer that, maybe. However the sudden mention of parents got her to jolt.] --You can't! If you talk to them they'll kick me out for sure!

[If it's...about any of that dangerous stuff.]

[Grimm shakes his head.]

Puella, they have a right to know the danger their child faces. This school's mission is made clear to those who join and what comes with it but family...has a way of worrying even with full knowledge.

[He folds his hands on the table and looks directly at her.]

And if they wish, I will tell them what happened during the Hunt myself.

[Even if it means throwing himself under a bus.]

But knowing is going to make them worry more!

[How does he expect them to take that somebody at the school wanted to eat her? Not even a monster...]

They already don't think the school is safe.

And they will learn the hard way the rest of the dangers you face are if you do not tell them. What your family faces is the possibility of your death, perhaps through a means they cannot understand. Losing kin is...

[He shakes his head and sighs. It is far more blunt then Grimm normally is but he wanted to make sure he was understood.]

Puella, I understand that you do not desire to leave. But it is possible to work with your family, is it not? If they understand what it is you face they can help you.

[hattersgonnahat]

[Would they? Puella did not think about it too much, but if they were worried about her here then they were probably worried for her at their own work too. ...Plus, there was likely some kind of 'no kids allowed' rule at their organization.]

[But as for helping out--] ...I don't know. They might be kind of busy.

Mum did help with my mask. I can always ask them about other runes.

[But there was a big difference between making new tools and protecting her from god knows what.]

I am certain if you ask for help they would be happy to provide. If you wish I can offer my own assistance as well.

[He has a few people in his Troupe that deal with runes. There has to be something that can be done to keep her safe.

Even if it's safety from Grimm too.]
