it's almost christmas! how does it feel to be approaching the holidays when nightfall is approaching so quickly? make sure to spend your time wisely, because you might not be here next year you might be three meters underground!

juuuuuuust kidding! but it's a fun thought, isn't it? people celebrating and putting their holiday lights up, almost as if trying to make us unaware of what is coming. they might as well be trying to brainwash us, huh?

So it’s not that you’re not in pain...but the pain that you’re in is so intense that everything else is eclipsed by it. Like a paper cut vs a broken femur!

[ flat nods as he takes in moriarty’s situation. whether fortunate or not, he doesn’t seem concerned about how this affects his new professor’s mental state. idly, he does wonder if moriarty would feel a broken femur— oh, but is that too much?

he looks at the still regenerating hand with interest, studying how the tissue regenerates. though it’s something he has seen on himself while practicing healing magic (he had to learn somehow, he thought) it’s surprising to see it on someone that doesn’t even flinch from the pain.

beyond that, however, there’s something that interests him even more. ]

Why did this happen to you, though? And what happened to Sherlock?

Indeed! It's exactly like that - I'm sure the signals of pain are still sent, but it's so inconsequential that I just don't receive it.

[He pushes his regenerating hand closer to flat, wiping away the blood where he can. It's fast - it's only been about 1-2 minutes, and it's already halfway closed - but there's the sense that it should be faster, somehow.]

Ah, why this happened? ...Well, it's funny you should ask that and also about Sherlock in the same breath....though I suppose I should keep some secrets for later, so let's table that for now.

[A wink - sorry, you have to be a level 3 student in order to access that backstory.]

Anyway, Holmes is still alive - or, well, existing. He's a Vampire now - and is at this school, though he goes by the name 'Arthur Bell' here.

[ hmph! flat looks somewhat miffed when moriarty keeps the answer from him. sure, sure, there's things that he hasn't told the professor either, but that doesn't make it fair--in his eyes at least.

having lost interest in the wound flat decides to heal the rest of it. it's done so in blink of an eye, while moriarty continues talking about sherlock--or arthur bell, as he now goes by. ]

A vampire! That's so unfortunate! [ flat says so with a laugh, almost as if making fun of the poor detective. ] I wonder if that has something to do with why you're like this. I know you won't tell me, but it's just so strange that I have to find out on my own! After all, you're so similar! You could totally pull off that 'good twin evil twin' trope with ease!

[He does seem a little surprised by the healing - but he laughs, shaking his head.]

You have been reading entirely too many pastiches, haven't you? As far as I'm aware, Holmes and I are not related.

[They are, however, soul linked...and honestly, Flat is extremely close to the truth there, even if Moriarty doesn't know it himself.]

But - feel free to try and wrest my secrets from me! You would not be the first to attempt, and I'll relish the challenge.

Oh, come on, don’t tell me you’ve never thought about it!

[ flat sits back down on the couch, knife still in his hand like it’s more a toy than something that was just used as a weapon.

but when moriarty mentions trying to figure out his secrets, flat freezes for a moment, followed by a sigh. ]

That’s definitely unfair Professor. You probably have dozens of mysteries—you’ve lived for two hundred years after all! I’d say I have none, but you’ve already seen through that too, huh? Super unfair.

[Dodging the comment about thinking about it (it has crossed his mind once or twice, another reason why he seems to shy away from using his true face), casually nibbling on the snacks he's brought out along with his tea.]

Though you're correct - I can tell you have quite a few secrets just from speaking with you in this small moment. Though I can't distinguish what they are just yet!

Well, they don't matter nearly as much as the ones you have!

[ flat says this earnestly, not appearing to be as bothered by the subject of his own secrets as much as he is about the fact that he is being withheld interesting information! ]

You must have so many stories to tell, after all! How come you were cut in half, for example? How did you make it here, out of all places? Do you need to sleep or eat?!

Ever the curious one, I see! Fine, fine - I'll answer a few of those questions. The bisection was...a 'planned accident', of sorts, from those that I had displeased. It involved falling and a malfunctioning elevator - very messy and painful business, trust me.

[With a laugh, he moves on.]

I do not need to eat, no - in fact I don't feel hungry at, though I do eat out of habit and for my own pleasure. Sleeping, however - that, I cannot ignore. Much like any human, I can die from lack of enough sleep, and I tend to be of the nocturnal sort.

Finally, as to why I am here...well. I merely wanted something other than crime for a bit, and returning to teaching seemed entertaining enough.
