Good morning Daybreak Academy. My name is Adriel, one of the angels of the Aelge Family. I will be working as a TA in the Academy for the foreseeable future. I offer help for students who would like one-on-one sessions or teachers who have extra work they would like help with.

Hey, Adriel. I'm Tobias, the hawk Héctor mentioned. Kind of wondering what you mean by angel. Should I just come over?

Hi, Tobias. It's nice to meet you.

And of course you can! Or we can go to a more neutral spot if that is what you would like.

[hawkwardness]

Your room's fine, just keep the window open. If that's alright.

[He hates to feel trapped more than ever, see. And a moment after sending the message, there's a bird tapping on their window with his beak. Hello!]

[thaumatrope]

[They turn away from typing on the network when they hear the tapping on the window and promptly go and open it for Tobias to hop inside and around as he desires. Even if there isn't much in Adriel's room. There's a bed, a desk and chair, and a computer to go with it.

That's it.]

Hello. Tobias, I assume?

[hawkwardness]

[He barely owns anything either, he has no room to judge. To the desk he flutters, as careful with his talons as he can be. And his 'voice' is odd--sound that isn't quite sound, bypassing the ears and yet definitely coming from the direction of the hawk.

Isn't magic weird?]

< Yep, that's me. Your new neighbor, I guess. >

[The voice is indeed strange - they haven't encountered magic like this before and Adriel tips their head to the side as they listen. But it's his voice so that's fine.]

It's nice to meet my new neighbor. Did you have a question about me being an angel?

[They do have the wings - big, white and fluffy. But he might have more questions then that so they'll answer to the best of their ability.]

< Just what that means. I'm new to the magical world, compared to some people. Always assumed angels were a myth. >

['Just', he says. But he's willing to answer hawk questions, of course.]

[He does have a point. Adriel was aware of the connection the word 'angels' can mean to other people. And he asked so they'll elaborate.]

We are creations by the Aegle Family, who dubbed us as angels for the miracle of our birth. Not all of us look the same but that is what we all are.

[It may sound like a practiced response...because it is. They're asked it a lot but it's mainly because that's what the Aegle Family says why they are alive, so that's why they're alive.]

[hawkwardness]

< Oh. Huh. Okay, I guess that... makes sense. >

[Though it doesn't seem like much of a reason?? But then again, if one has to call miracle magi-science babies something...] < Who are the Aegle Family? >

They are a Mage Family, one of the many offering help to Daybreak's cause. I'm here to help as a favor to the school.

[A simple reason for anyone looking. But that's fine. It's an answer that's the truth because they've been told it was the truth.]

Can I ask you a question?

[Was that okay too?]

[hawkwardness]

< That's nice of you. I've been wondering why more mages aren't helping... they're in trouble too if we fail, I think. >

[One can only hope they don't pitch in at the last minute. That'd be too little, too late... but it's out of his control.]

< And sure, go right ahead. >

That's a good question. But I'm not sure.

[That's a more honest thought on Adriel's part. Why didn't some people help? Were they scared or something?]

I was just wondering what it's like being a hawk. It seems really neat.

[hawkwardness]

[They should be scared. Of what's coming. Of the kinds of things this bird-boy's already seen. But...]

< That's a tough question to answer. Depends. Can you actually fly...? Do you know what that's like? >

[thaumatrope]

I can. It's nice.

[There's a lot of pretty things up in the sky. And there's a nice breeze there too.]

Is it like that?

[hawkwardness]

[He sounds like he would be smiling, if he had lips.]

< Yeah. Flying. It's the best feeling in the world. As free as anyone can be. >

[thaumatrope]

[He may not be able to smile but Adriel certainly can, so they do.]

And forever in your case. It must be wonderful.

[hawkwardness]

< Uh, yeah. I guess. Aside from having to study now and everything. >

[He cocks his head, bemused.] < Are you saying you can't? >

[thaumatrope]

[They shake their head.]

I have things to do on the ground. And I'd miss my family terribly if it was forever. So I'll come back down then.

[And the wings are limbs to them - they get tired.]

[hawkwardness]

< Oh. Uh, good. Thought you meant there was something wrong with your wings. Which would suck. >

[Worse than not having any, honestly.] < Anyway, I guess it's not much different than being anything else. I'm here, I go to classes and study, I do normal things. Normal for Daybreak, that is. >

Yeah, Daybreak is quite a strange school. But it is at least entertaining, right?

[Depending on what one is doing during their time, after all.]

Are you enjoying your classes?

< Yeah. I can honestly say none of them are boring. Then again, I'm not really taking the ones that have nothing to do with magic. Except for Latin, but... that's because there are people out there old enough to speak it. >

[Because magic!!]

Magic uses a lot of Latin, doesn't it? I do know some so if you need help I'd be happy to give it.

[It's one of the things they're here for, after all!]

< Point. It does. I wonder what they used before Latin. And sure, if I ever need tutoring or something. >
