Valentine's Day Deliveries - UN: Shinigami
Heads up students, deliveries will be going out today. Most will be made to your dorm rooms between two and five this afternoon, unless you signed up to deliver a carnation to someone in the classroom, in which case it'll show up in the first five minutes. Don't be disruptive.
You can still drop off packages at Michael's office or my classroom, or buy carnations with a hand-written message for a euro a pop. Enjoy the holiday. See you at the ball.

[OOC: If your character is getting a delivery, post a comment here, and one of the students who signed up as a delivery cupid will take care of it. And if they don't, Gamma will. Feel free to request certain students ahead of time!]

Is there a limit to the number of carnations one can purchase?
Who's on the list to make deliveries this year?

Are carnations the only flowers available, or are there others we can choose from?

What's an ollin anyway?

Ollin is an old cultural thing. I've told you that I never knew my family but, I did know a little bit of my heritage. Not sure how much of my background it is but it's at least partially mine. I like to think things like this connect me back.
Anyway, you pronounce it like "all in" and that's kind of what it means. It stems from words in the Nahuatl language meaning heart and life, and combines in its new form to mean movement. So, to move with all heart and soul.
The Aztecs had this thing about wearing your heart on your face, which might sound strange, but it's about making sure you're seeing things clearly without setting feelings aside. You have to go forward with heart and intent, and not just alone, but with all those around you. A community seeking ollin.
These concepts come up a lot in symbols and it would probably take all day to go into even the meanings of just one. But, ah, the symbol I'm talking is pretty famous in my culture. You can find it on the Aztec calendar even, and the meaning I always really liked was [Don't laugh at the irony Gamma, he swears...] a full completion of the life and death cycle. A fullfillment, you know? I used to have a belt buckle with the symbol, and then two crossed guitars over top. Really cool.
Now your turn. What's shinigami supposed to be?
no subject
That's cool.
[Not a huge dramatic reaction, but at least it's mostly genuine. He kind of wants to see what the symbol looks like.]
Japanese for 'god of death.'
I think.
[He's actually not sure, but it sounded good.]
no subject
He doesn't have the same luck resisting a laugh.]
You picked a name and you didn't know what it meant?
[There is no part of this that doesn't completely scan.]
Well, assuming you've got it right, it's very "you".
no subject
You ordering or delivering anything?
no subject
I'll admit it's cool. And that, no, I'm just hassling you like a jerk. But I can step up if any delivery kids wind up sick or whatever and you need a spare.
no subject
[And he'd rather not dwell on that if he can help it, they both know what he was like before he met Wren.]
Nah, we're covered. The students earn some cash and chat with their peers. I can route you to make a delivery to Imelda if you really want, though.
no subject
Thank you. But no. I don't think that would be a good idea.
no subject
[He's pretty sure Ekkehardt and Hieke aren't into chicks. And he definitely can't see her fawning over Michael. He's so OLD.]

no subject
Maybe I'll go keep her company. :3
no subject
I'd like to see you try.
I want Imelda to be happy. That might mean she chooses someone I don't think the best of. My feelings don't matter here. But you? I promise you; you are not nor will you ever be her type.
Receiving???
no subject
[Imelda isn't expecting a delivery herself, but she's sitting in the common room reading a book around the appointed time, if anyone wants to surprise her.]
[Private to Gamma, un: i.rivera]
Some questions for you, Señor Akutabi. Do you have different colors of carnations available?
Also, if I happen to purchase flowers for any students helping in distribution, can I be assured that they won't stumble upon their own deliveries preemptively?
no subject
Yup. Red, white, and striped. Anything other than that will have to come from a florist's shop, but the kids can deliver bouquets bought elsewhere.
Yeah, you don't have to worry about that. It'd be kinda backwards if they did.
Which kids are you shopping for?
no subject
I also have something else for Ekkehardt, Hieke, and Michael that I'd like delivered. Could I stop by later to drop those off?
no subject
[He could direct her to Michael's office, but admittedly, he's curious to know who this woman is that his friend's still crazy about. Might as well see if she's worth all the hype.]
no subject
[Despite says 2:50, Imelda arrives at the classroom at 2:45, carrying a cardboard box in her hands. Inside are three carefully arranged bouquets, no more than a foot in height, but cumbersome enough that she couldn't carry all three simply in her hands. Each bouquet has a Thank You note attach to it, along with Imelda's very neat and looping signature.]
[She waits patiently outside of the classroom until the lesson has ended, letting the students exit before she leans into the doorway to see if the room is clear. Once it is, she'll enter with her box.]
Hola, Señor Akutabi. How was your class?
no subject
[When Imelda enters, he pushes away from the desk with a sunny smile, striding briskly forward to take the bulky box from her arms.]
You must be Imelda! No need for formalities, just 'Gamma' is fine.
[Three bouquets and nothing for Hector. He'd feel bad for him, but Hector sure as Hec didn't send anything to her, so that's his friend's own fault.]
You're sending out a lot of these. Hope they showed their gratitude in return.
