Real talk:

Does anyone here not have some kind of fucking childhood trauma bullshit? Goddamn, this is fucking pathetic to watch.

[YOU ARE LITERALLY ONE OF THEM, JOLYNE...]

Also, anyone that's got some anatomy knowledge, I have a quick question: how long does it generally take for someone to bleed out from a minor wound? Enough to need stitches but not enough to require surgery otherwise. Asking for my own curious brain, I swear to fuck I haven't done anything to warrant this question. Just idle weird thoughts.

Okay, actually, one more question. Skin grows back, doesn't it??????

I'm merely stating a fact.

[Sorry, jolyne.]

Not that I hold it against you, but at least recognize my brave sacrifice...! sob, sob.

I was a foster kid who jumped homes but I wouldn't really say it was traumatic for me. I got to stay in the same place more or less and I had a lot of good times. There are better childhoods but it all worked out. Adulthood's way better though.

Anyway, for this entirely hypothetical injury, I'm not sure the exact time it takes to bleed out but losing blood will mess you up more than you'd expect. You know how people always feel sick after blood donations?

I'd suggest hypothetical stitches as soon as hypothetically possible.

Skin usually grows back but the tissue is going to need help to do that and a lot of time with a big enough wound, like one you'd need stitches for.

I'll take it. I could use some boring in my life.

Entirely hypothetical, which is why you also asked a secondary clarification about whether skin will grow back.

The chance it might not is if the wound becomes infected or if the skin can only grow back a thin layer that can tear easily again. And of course, if you die, there's not much growing back anything.

These can't even be real. I mean, going to the bar instead of the hospital to brag about being bitten by a shark?

It's not an entirely off-base guess. Some cells do work that way.

Dead skin cells fall off you, however, since they're an outer layer. It's part of what makes up dust.

I took anatomy courses. It's also a major thing they bring up in a lot of first aid classes.

Oh it will fade out, because as your skin cells create the next ones after them, eventually more and more of the color is leeched out in the cells falling off... Think of it like making a copy of a copy... and then copying that copy. The further from the original you go, the less clear or accurate things are... but you can often times still tell what they were supposed to be.

Yes - and the ones used against witches could be very inventive, if nothing else. The 'bronze bull' is one that's practically a masterwork showing how easily humans can torture their fellows and make it a spectacle in the bargain.

And yes - it is quite fragile. Speaking from experience, it's quite easy to have trauma fracture the conscious mind into an utterly destroyed state.

New skin cells will grow to cover a wound. If it's the level where stitches are needed you'll probably get scar tissue. Without stitching it won't bleed you to death, but you're very likely to die of whatever blood or skin infection you get.

Or need it amputated.

Depends what your cutoff point is for childhood here. I was doing pretty well until I was 17.

How long to bleed out depends on the location. A 'minor' cut over a major artery will bleed you out a lot faster than the same cut only hitting muscle tissue and minor blood vessels.
