[ posted some time mid-day on the 6th, because after nearly killing a person, almost dying himself isn't enough of divine retribution, he's also got to see the miserable child that he used to be walking around campus and he wants none of that. there can only be one. ]

[ He needs somebody who wouldn't mind killing a human child, essentially. For those who suspect something's up, or want an action thread instead of a text one, Kano makes it pretty obvious what he needs destroyed: anybody happening upon Lumière 303 can't miss the sound of muffled screaming and pounding of what sounds like a child who has been locked up in a closet, because this is obviously how you deal with seeing a kid version of yourself, you kidnap them and throw them in the closet and remove the doorknob to your bedroom so nobody can get inside. ]

[The thing about a child screaming bloody murder is that sound like that carries. The muffling does make it harder for human ears to pick up on, but drake ears are far more sensitive.

That's why Hiccup and Toothless end up charging their way up the dormitory stairs, glares on their faces.]

What the Hel is going on up here?

[ Yikes, a drake barging into the dormitory lounge is quite the sight to see, so that Kano sits up from the couch he's hanging out in, stares at Hiccup and Toothless, and then goes to lie back down again like he isn't any part of this.

The screaming from 303 does not let up. ]

[Seeing that they weren't getting any immediate answers, Hiccup and Toothless quickly move onward down the hall. There's the fleshy thump of a human body trying and failing to get a door to budge.

After a pause, there's a small explosion and the sound of said door shattering into hundreds of charred splinters.]

[ His poor door... it would be the second time in a short while it's been blown off its hinges, but there's no way he can replace it as easily this time. Kano keeps quiet as he watches the duo literally break into his room, cringing but at least being grateful that there isn't anything important that he keeps inside.

You know, because kids aren't important. Least of all this one, which gives a strangled cry of alarm when he hears something breaking and immediately goes quiet, although Hiccup and Toothless may be able to hear where the sound had come from before he'd shut up- it's the closet, and one of the desks has been moved in front of it to bar the door. ]

[Toothless pulls the desk away, leaving behind bitemarks and drake-slobber that will never come off.

Hiccup taps on the closet door, leaning his ear up near it.]

Hey, is it alright if I come in there? I'm a teacher, I'm here to help.

[suddenlybees]

[ Instead of a response, there's just labored breathing from the other side of the door, like fear at the cusp of hyperventilation that Shuuya's trying to keep under control by taking slow deep breaths that do nothing more but make him feel light headed. With teachers... Shuuya's never gone to school; he was supposed to have started the first grade already, but he never went. But he recognizes that teachers are supposed to have the well being of students (he doesn't count as a student, though...) in mind, so he takes a deep breath, holds it, and cracks open the closet door. And he takes one look at Toothless and slams it shut again. ]

Whoa, hey. Hey hey hey. You're fine, you're safe. Toothless isn't going to hurt you.

[If Shuuya peeks through the door again, he'll see that Toothless is just sitting.]

He's basically a big, scaly housecat, alright? He's here to help you. Toothless heard you screaming and wanted to make sure you were okay. That's why I'm up here.

[ He does peek through the door again, just a crack that lets him see out with one eye. It helps that Toothless initially appears toothless, honestly. He's still not so sure, though, just because he's never seen such a large creature in his life, dragon or not, and all of the sudden, this little closet he'd been locked up in feels nice and cozy and most importantly, safe. ] Um. I'm okay in here. [ Really he's fine. There's a strange creature on the other side of the door and he thinks he might go into a panic just from that. ]

That's alright. I'll just stay here until you feel like leaving, then. I don't want anybody trapping you in there again.

[Of course, with the kid being terrified of Toothless, he's still trapped. Hiccup reconsiders having Toothless present. The drake might be ever-present around Hiccup, but that doesn't mean they can't or won't split up when it's needed.]

I can send Toothless off if you want. Hel, he might even go stare down whoever locked you up if you let me know who it was.

[ Shuuya nods, because 1) he'd feel a lot more comfortable if it were just humans around and nothing so Unknown like a dragon, and also 2) fuck Kano. He hopes Toothless eats him. But he bites at his bottom lip and doesn't say anything out loud, just sort of pokes his head a bit further out of the door and tries to see out the ...missing door... into the hallway, like he's scared of whoever did lock him up in here, because the guy said something about killing him if he even thinks about leaving the floor and he honestly believes it. ]

[Shuuya's face being a bit more visible gives Hiccup a very big clue as to who did this. Kano hadn't really helped himself by ignoring the screams and Hiccup's question.]

He's not going to hurt you, trust me. Toothless? The kid in the lounge? Make sure he doesn't leave it.

[Toothless nods, and runs out of the room. As soon as he finds Kano, he sits in front of him and starts glaring. If Kano moves, he starts growling. If Kano still doesn't get the hint, Toothless will sit on him if he has to.]

[ Kano's first instinct is definitely to get the hell out of there, but he's going to get spirited away and stop existing in a couple minutes following his conversation with Wist, so at least Toothless doesn't have to be on guard duty for too long and Kano maybe doesn't get his spine crushed for too long either. Kano's yelling out there in the dorm is just a little disconcerting for Shuuya, who sneaks glances in between the doorway and Hiccup, but eventually he comes out, sticking as close to Hiccup as he can. It's the morbid curiosity. He wants to know if Toothless really did eat Kano. ]
