You know, at first I thought I had you all wrong. I thought these April pranks were cool and that you finally understood stuff. I thought we could have a good time and we wouldn't even leave any corpses behind. But noooo. I mean, come on, you guys switch bodies and stuff it's "just a prank" and "all in good fun" but when I want to make a friend I'm "evil" and "a danger to everyone around me". You guys are lame. This isn't a fun trick at all. >::(

The contract can be extended without your permission? That sounds less like a contract and more like being kept captive.

Is that not what most contracts are?

Ah. See, I fully agree every contract is a tool of captivity, but usually people excuse it due to the captivity being mutual - both parties bound by terms that they both agreed on.

Your case however... well, that's a contract only in name anymore.

It's kind of an agreement. If I didn't agree I'd be dead. I don't want to die.

It doesn't matter much though. Either way, it's what I've got.

But this place might just be interesting enough to accept captivity for a little while. I actually understand as much.

That's a sad thing to say. Soul Death is the most restricting thing of all, deeper than a body's death. It means going away. There are better escapes from pain that don't let the cruel ones win.

Beautiful words that I hold to be very true. Once it has all gone away, none of it has any claim on me anymore either.

But whether or not I will live... Well, that remains to be seen doesn't it? The future has not yet become boring and predictable.

That sounds lonely. I don't mind being held sometimes, by the right people.

But that, at least, is true. There's still much to see, and much that I want to do.

I didn't think the right people were anywhere to be found, for a long time.

It can take a long time. Many of my hosts found it difficult. But they were good to me and I know more are out there. I'm glad you found some.

How do you usually acquire hosts? It seems like a fascinating way to live.

[emergensirations]

They summon me! My sigil and summoning instructions have been left in various places all over the world!

One of the first things the progenitors of my species does is either leave the first sigil and find another of my kind and weaken them enough to be defeated by the progeny they will host. This way, I can be summoned to my true first host with enough knowledge of what to do that I can continue to leave my name in the world!

Some of my kind choose other methods, but this is how I do it. It's better! The trickiest part is when I'm between hosts. I have to go into dormancy, but I can't last like that forever. That's why I like making sure something's ready before my time is up.

So your hosts could theoretically summon you without really knowing what they're getting into, by finding and using the sigil?

Oh. Well.

Yes. That happened once. Here. A bunch of people didn't like it and that's how I ended up in this situation.

But it was one time! Summonings are serious!

Not to the humans who do them. So many are just playing around, woefully unprepared for what's coming.

Though as they say, you learn with experience.

I guess I'll just have to find ways to make them happy too. Even if it's harder than with normal hosts.
